Do you have https://archlinux.org/packages/?name=vulkan-intel ?
(Though afaict that's a theoretical problem, the vulkan on broadwell doesn't seem to perform too good)
For the FPS see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME# … ronization
Edit: have you tried the solution form that steam thread?

Tried the Chuzzle solution and it did get to the black screen faster, it still froze on the black screen though. Alt f4 kills it at least.
Now the synchronization thing is interesting, as it failed at:
$ xrandr --output eDP-1 --set 'PRIME Syncronization' 1
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
Serial number of failed request: 34
Current serial number in output stream: 34I used this just before.
# modprobe nvidia_drm modeset=1Because running this returned the file did not exist.
# cat /sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset Offline
I used this just before.
If the module was already loaded that's idempotent.
Please post your complete system journal for the boot:
sudo journalctl -b | curl -s -H "Accept: application/json, */*" --upload-file - 'https://paste.c-net.org/'resp. in doubt just add "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters

$ modprobe -c | grep -v alias | grep nvidia
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist nvidia
blacklist nvidia_drm
blacklist nvidia_modeset
blacklist nvidia_uvm
options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1 NVreg_TemporaryFilePath=/var/tmp
options nvidia_drm modeset=1Well, that is interesting.
I am guessing those are not supposed to be blacklisted?
If so, I do not know how to make them not blacklisted.
edit: I think I found it. It was in usr/lib/modprobe.d/ the file I believe I had actually made by coping the bumblebee.conf file in there and renaming it to bumbebee_backup.conf since I had problems in the past messing with .conf files I thought to make a backup before deleting it. Did not know that it didn't care file names in that folder. I commented out all of bumblebee_backup.conf's lines. And now:
$ modprobe -c | grep -v alias | grep nvidia
blacklist nvidiafb
options nvidia NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations=1 NVreg_TemporaryFilePath=/var/tmpThey are no longer blacklisted, except that one.
edit again:
$ prime-run glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
333 frames in 5.0 seconds = 66.490 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.007 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.004 FPS
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).Synchronization is now working.
And Chuzzle now works! On proton 9.0.4 with prime-run as a launch option seems to be best. Without forcing a compatibility tool prime-run makes the window invisible. But overall this is great! Oh yes, this is also after applying the Chuzzle fix from the that thread.

Why us "options nvidia_drm modeset=1" gone?
Also, what impact has that on the PRIME situation?

Oh, I think the 'nvidia_drm modeset=1' disappeared because I used the kernel parameter last boot and forgot to add it this time.
But it does seem to be synced regardless now?
Was that the PRIME situation?
$ vkcube Still chooses the nvidia card both times. But I don't think that is too bad.
But I am now getting another game to run, Wildgate, and so far it is working perfectly!
I did add 'prime-run %command%' to its launch options but I imagine that will be used for almost every game.

Yes.
Still chooses the nvidia card both times.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

Yep, I was gonna do after confirming everything seemed to be resolved.
Thank you very much for your help! I would not have been able to figured this out myself.
P.S. I wanted to apologize for breaking the bumping rule I completely got that rule backwards and that was probably very annoying, so very sorry about that.

random intermission, the fact vkcube picks the nvidia card both times is normal, it contains code to explicitly prefer the dedicated card if present: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 6#p2060946
